June 10 marks a historic milestone as Narendra Modi becomes India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.

A humorous social media quip circulating across forums states, “What’s called Luck? Take Narendra Modi, for example. He has no strong opposition in Parliament to argue with and no wife at home to argue with either. No tension at all!”

However, PM Modi is undeniably exceptional. He is the first and only Prime Minister born after independence, the longest-serving non-Congress PM, and the first Prime Minister from a non-Hindi-speaking state to hold this record.

On June 10, India will witness a defining moment in its political history, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi surpasses Jawaharlal Nehru to become the country’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. Unlike Nehru’s era, when there were no television, social media, or rapid communication tools, Modi has thrived amid these modern challenges.

With this achievement, Modi surpasses Nehru’s tenure of 16 years and 286 days (6,130 days), setting a new benchmark in India’s democratic history.

This milestone underscores Modi’s enduring influence and significant role in Indian politics. Since taking office on May 26, 2014, following the BJP’s decisive victory, Modi has cemented his leadership through successive electoral mandates. His first term concluded on May 30, 2019, and after an even larger mandate in 2019, he returned for a second term. A 2024 electoral victory propelled him into a third term, further extending his leadership.

He is the first non-Congress leader after Nehru to serve continuously for such an extensive period. Political analysts recognize this record as a testament to his sustained electoral success and pivotal influence on India’s political landscape.

Under his leadership, India has achieved remarkable progress across economic, social, and foreign policy domains. Campaigns like Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan have become nation-building pillars, while India’s international stature has risen through active diplomacy and strategic alliances.

Supporters and the BJP celebrate this milestone as proof of his exemplary leadership and future vision. Analysts see this record as a reflection of his political longevity and the unwavering confidence the electorate has reposed in him.

More than just a numerical record, this achievement symbolizes over a decade of unwavering national leadership and policy direction. For many, it signifies the consolidation of the so-called “Modi era” and marks another significant chapter in his political journey.

As June 10 approaches, widespread interest is expected across political and public spheres, emphasizing its importance in India’s evolving democratic story.

He is also the first and only non-Congress leader to complete two full terms and to be re-elected twice with a majority, securing a solo majority in the Lok Sabha.

Many always argue that

Modi messed up the economy, foreign policy, elevated unemployment, and dismantled media credibility- that is always the other side of political stories!
