“This event is designed to inspire students and young professionals through meaningful discussions, networking opportunities, and mentorship from experienced panelists on academic success, career development, leadership, and future opportunities,” organizers said.
GOPIO-Manhattan, the Manhattan chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin, has announced a special panel discussion titled “America@250: The Indian Diaspora’s Journey in Building America—Past, Present, and Future,” scheduled for July 11, 2026, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Manhattan. The event is being organized as part of the broader celebrations marking the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States and will bring together high school students, college students, young professionals, and community leaders.
The program aims to explore the contributions of Indian Americans to the United States while providing students and young professionals with opportunities for mentorship, networking, leadership development, and career guidance. GOPIO International and several New York-area GOPIO chapters are collaborating on the initiative, which organizers say is designed to inspire the next generation of Indian American leaders.
“This event is designed to inspire students and young professionals through meaningful discussions, networking opportunities, and mentorship from experienced panelists on academic success, career development, leadership, and future opportunities,” organizers said.
The panel discussion will focus on the historical, present-day, and future contributions of the Indian diaspora in shaping American society. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with professionals, community leaders, and fellow students while discussing topics such as higher education, career growth, public service, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Organizers are also inviting high school students, college students, and young diaspora professionals interested in serving as speakers to register through an online application process.
In its invitation to the community, GOPIO-Manhattan encouraged parents, students, and young professionals to participate in what it described as a unique opportunity to reflect on the Indian American experience and discuss the community’s role in America’s future.
GOPIO-Manhattan President Prof. Rajasekhar Vangapaty and the chapter’s leadership team said the event reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, education, leadership development, and community engagement.
Founded as a nonpartisan, secular nonprofit organization, GOPIO-Manhattan promotes awareness of Indian culture, heritage, and the contributions of people of Indian origin through educational programs, community forums, cultural events, and youth initiatives.
The event is free and open to the public, though advance registration is required.
