Netflix is expanding its mobile experience, content discovery tools and gaming ecosystem as it seeks to deepen user engagement across Asia-Pacific markets.

Netflix has unveiled a series of updates to its mobile platform, content discovery tools and gaming offerings as it seeks to strengthen user engagement across Asia-Pacific markets.

The announcements were made during the company’s APAC Product Innovation Showcase, where Netflix outlined plans to make its platform more personalised, interactive and accessible for viewers across the region.

A key part of the update is a redesigned mobile experience that introduces a new vertical video feed called Clips. The feature is intended to help users discover content through short-form previews tailored to their viewing preferences and interactions.

Users will be able to watch clips, save titles to their watchlists, share content, and move directly to a show’s or film’s page to begin streaming. The refreshed mobile interface is scheduled to launch in South Korea and Japan in July and is already available in India, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Malaysia. Additional Asia-Pacific markets are expected to receive the update in the coming months.

Netflix also revealed plans to test curated Clips collections in the future. These themed feeds may focus on specific genres, moods or content categories, including reality television highlights, behind-the-scenes footage and podcast-related content.

This reflects Netflix’s broader product direction of leveraging technology to make entertainment feel even more personal, interactive and immersive.

“Innovation has to play a very important role at a company bringing beloved entertainment to nearly a billion people around the world,” said Elizabeth Stone, Netflix’s Chief Product & Technology Officer.

Alongside its mobile updates, the streaming platform announced further expansion of its gaming ecosystem. The company said its Netflix Playground experience, a dedicated gaming space for children and families within Netflix Games, will continue rolling out globally.

Beginning June 20, Netflix will introduce six mini-games inspired by the animated film KPop Demon Hunters. The games are designed to offer younger audiences additional ways to engage with characters and storylines from the franchise.

Netflix noted that Playground is included with all subscriptions and does not contain advertisements or in-game purchases. The company plans to add more games based on children’s films, television series and popular characters while exploring additional interactive experiences.

The streaming giant is also continuing efforts to improve content discovery through curated collections and recommendation hubs built around specific interests, seasonal events and regional celebrations. Existing examples include collections tied to Diwali in India and Golden Week in Japan.

More recently, Netflix launched Watch Your Favourite Books, a dedicated content hub that helps viewers discover screen adaptations of popular literary works.

According to the company, these curated collections are intended to complement its recommendation systems by making content browsing easier and more relevant for different audiences.

“Our job is to blend smart recommendations with real human understanding of what matters to members, so that finding something to watch feels easy, and even fun,” said Eugenie Yeo, Senior Director of Product Merchandising for Asia Pacific at Netflix.

The latest announcements underscore Netflix’s broader strategy of enhancing mobile viewing, improving content discovery and expanding interactive entertainment offerings as competition among streaming platforms continues to intensify across Asia-Pacific.
