The opening of Indiyaana marks the arrival of a new Indian dining and banquet destination in Schaumburg, combining authentic cuisine, contemporary hospitality, and community-focused experiences.
A new Indian dining destination has opened its doors in Schaumburg, Illinois, aiming to combine traditional Indian flavours with an upscale dining experience for the Chicagoland community.
Indiyaana, located at 1301 American Lane, officially opened on June 3 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community leaders, business representatives, family members, and local residents.
The restaurant is the latest venture of restaurateur Sivakumar Rajarathinam, known for operating Sai Ram Indian Cuisine in Wisconsin and for his recent acquisition of Madras Cafe. Rajarathinam said the project was the result of 15 months of planning and development.
“Indiyaana is not just a restaurant, it is an experience center,” he said during the opening ceremony.
The restaurant’s name draws inspiration from India’s cultural heritage and reflects its focus on presenting Indian cuisine in a contemporary setting. Designed as both a dining and event destination, Indiyaana offers restaurant services alongside banquet facilities for private and community events.
Schaumburg Village President Tom Dailly attended the inauguration and welcomed the new business to the community.
“Indiyaana is a gorgeous looking place and we’re very happy that they have taken this over and are going to have a very successful time here,” Dailly said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The opening ceremony drew a large gathering of well-wishers who celebrated the launch with a traditional ribbon-cutting and community reception.
Indiyaana’s menu features a range of Indian dishes, from traditional regional favourites to contemporary presentations inspired by modern Indian cuisine. The restaurant’s owners say the goal is to offer both authenticity and innovation while appealing to a diverse customer base.
Lunch service began on opening day, while dinner service is available daily except Tuesdays. The venue has also opened bookings for banquets and private events, positioning itself as a destination for celebrations, family gatherings, and corporate functions.
Among the guests attending the opening was Heather Larson, President and CEO of Chicago Northwest.
Early visitors praised both the cuisine and hospitality.
“The flavor of the food is just perfect… it tastes very healthy, very fresh,” one guest remarked after dining at the restaurant.
Another attendee highlighted both the service and atmosphere, saying, “The quality of the food isn’t exceeded by anything, but it’s matched by the quality of the staff and their attention to details and their kindness. This building is amazing. The architecture here—this is a destination restaurant that everyone should try.”
The launch of Indiyaana comes at a time when Indian cuisine continues to gain prominence across the United States, with growing interest in regional flavours and elevated dining experiences. For Rajarathinam, the project also represents a continuation of an entrepreneurial journey built around sharing Indian food and culture with wider audiences.
Beyond its culinary ambitions, the restaurant reflects the contributions of immigrant entrepreneurs who continue to shape local communities through business, cultural exchange, and hospitality.
With its combination of dining, event space, and cultural identity, Indiyaana hopes to establish itself as a gathering place for residents across the Chicago metropolitan area and as a new addition to Schaumburg’s growing culinary landscape.
