In a thrilling Pool A showdown at the Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir, India battled to a dramatic 3–2 win over Japan to advance to the Super-4 stage. India struck early with a pair of goals in the first quarter, courtesy of Harmanpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh, giving them a promising 2–0 lead.

Japan rallied in the middle frame, narrowing the gap and intensifying India’s defense. As pressure mounted, Harmanpreet delivered again—converting a crucial penalty corner at the close of the third quarter to restore India’s two-goal advantage. The final minutes tested India further when a yellow card reduced them to ten men, but they held firm to clinch the match and secure their place in the next round.
